ECB'S Villeroy: see the current slowdown in inflation as temporary
The European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council member and Bank of France Head Francois Villeroy de Galhau, speaking at an event of the Global Interdependence Center's Central Banking Series, in Paris, was noted saying that ECB is getting closer to ending asset purchases but ending QE in September or December is not an existential question.
Additional quotes:
• French Q2 data likely damped by calendar effect.
• We clearly see the current slowdown in inflation as temporary and expect inflation to resume its progress in coming months.
The comments had a rather muted effect on the shared currency, with the EUR/USD pair consolidating daily gains near one-week tops.
